About Caroline Coon

Caroline Coon (b.1945) is an English artist, journalist and political activist. She was educated at Central St Martins College of Art (Fine Art 1965-67) and Brunel University London (PSE 1970-72). A lifelong political activist, Coon’s work has always reflected cultural movements that provoked changes in Britain; 60s ‘peace and love’ counterculture, punk rock and feminism. Exploring sexual themes from a feminist standpoint Coon’s honest depiction of the male nude has been considered shocking and destabilising of patriarchal sexual stereotypes. Coon had her first solo painting exhibition in 2018 at The Gallery Liverpool entitled Caroline Coon: The Great Offender.

Caring for your Print

Here are a few tips on how to best take care of your new print!

All our prints are carefully wrapped in acid-free tissue paper and flat-packed for safe transport. Before framing, make sure to keep your print stored flat to ensure it remains in perfect condition.

Try to place your work in an environment with a normal temperature. Extreme temperatures or humidities can have an adverse effect on your beautiful print, so be sure to keep it protected! We always recommend framing the work behind glass as a great way to keep it safe from any adverse environmental conditions.

When framing the work, we always opt for a frame with Art Glass. Art Glass will keep your print in pristine condition, protecting against UV damage over time, and ensuring the longevity of colour in your print.

His inventive approach fuses traditional eastern artistic techniques and imagery with western Pop Art references to create an original style that seeks to establish balance and harmony between cultural extremes. Tsai originally came into the limelight in 2008 when he created the now iconic floral skull emblem for British fashion designer Alexander McQueen whilst studying for his Masters at Central St. Martins, London. Since then Tsai has used the floral skull in many of his artworks, seeing the image as the best example of his vision: to dispel attitudes of fear and superstition prevalent in his native China and instead encourage the emergence of beauty in decay. The floral skull has since become synonymous with the artist and his work. Tsai originally came into the limelight in 2008 when he created the now iconic floral skull emblem for British fashion designer Alexander McQueen whilst studying for his Masters at Central St. Martins, London. Since then Tsai has used the floral skull in many of his artworks, seeing the image as the best example of his vision: to dispel attitudes of fear and superstition prevalent in his native China and instead encourage the emergence of beauty in decay. The floral skull has since become synonymous with the artist and his work.
